Actually, he screwed you over. You were new, and dropped off at the later point of the game, ruining the storyline for you etc.

IMO runners ruin the game ( for newbies )

Heh, reminds me of a fellow friend. Back when it was around halloween, I had barely explored Tyria and was on my grand passage into Kryta. I had met the mad king too, and a couple weeks later, grenth and dwayna! Although my stories don't relate much, we were hunting around sorrows furnace, doing quests and having fun. One day my friend pm'ed me telling me he had 700k, and I asked HOW!??! (And btw, Back then, I had to literally ask him for some money for my drok armor... we were both poor... with less then 10k) He said that a fellow guy just open traded him and gave him 700k. Well, soon enough, my friend gives that overwhelming fortune to another lucky person. An amazing amount of 700k, given to my friend, who just gave it to another person.

Lots of regular players give away good items regularly to peeps who cannot afford them (or at least the people in my guild do), but i've never seen such generosity.... that sword has got to be worth 100k+20 ectos or so!

Congrats!

(2/3 went to friends *rough estimate*)

It is always great to hear that there are still nice helpful people out there.
I for one experienced a genorous person last night. I did Abaddon's Gate in NF last night so I could get the rest of my Ranger Primeval or for some reason I came up 9 bones short. How that happened, is beyond me. A generous person in the PUG I was in was happy to salvage a tusk he had and gave me enough bones. Instead of going back to my storage where I had bones and doing the mission over, I was able to get the last piece with much delight. It's not as great of a story as yours.......but I think good people should be noted and recognized.

Totally! Most people would start out with a red iris flower... maybe a gem if things are still going good later. That was the equivalent of giving someone the keys to a brand new Mercedes before asking them to have dinner with you!

Joking aside... that's awesome Velvet Wing! You're very lucky!

Hey tech I know how you feel about once you give someone something they just seem to keep on taking. I really enjoy the ones that ask what they can do for me in return and I just ask them to later dedicate the same kindness to someone else when they are in a place to do so. It's so much easier to find it in newbs just coming from presear. A lot of times that generosity shown to them will stay with them the rest of the game.
There was one guy who continued to ask for cash after the fact but he was usually very understanding when I said I didn't have the funds. He would continue to talk to me and we would chat. He also actually wanted to learn how to farm so he didn't have to ask for funds from anyone so I did teach him. I don't mind that type so much cause he was at least willing to go a different route other than mooching. I guess he saw us as good friends and felt it acceptable to ask me first for money - he's a good kid because he at least has drive.

The one guy who used to be my friend... I don't even recall how we became friends really... All I know is that I became his bank between his three accounts. Anytime he wanted to bounce money I met him in Ascalon or Droks and he would hand me more money than I had ever known was possible and then bounce around till he had it all sorted out. Gah I was under intense stress when he made me hold 800k for him for most of the day >_<!!!! Usually he gave me items or a holders fee of 2-8k which to me at the newb stage was a fortune. *sighs* I ran into him not to long ago I think the day of the NF release. He either didn't recognise my name or he purposefully avoided talking to me (I think the latter). He was complaining about the farming nerf lol. I told him to just find a new way to farm XD

And in the spirit of this thread and the season I know where I will be spending most of my game time and what I will be doing! Good Cheer to you ALL!

Wow, that's awesome! Gives me more faith in GW. I'm probably one of the older players of GW (32), and as such, I find myself with little to no patience for the younger players. Last night, I was trying to run this mission that was driving me crazy. I was running with three heros and four henchmen. As I sat there waiting for the time limit to end so I could start the mission, I noticed there were four others in with me. As it turns out, they had at least a dozen bone minions following each of them. They were then kind enough to allow me to go through the mission with them. As I went through, I realized I would have never been able to do it on my own. It was really cool of them to not even complain about me, but to talk to me as well, including asking me about my centaur hero, so I told them a bit about GW:NF. I now wish I had friend-listed them

Why don't we make this thread a SPOTLIGHT ON THE GENEROUS topic? (dunno if it should be moved in that case, if that is the case, mods please do )
If anyone has someone they feel deserves the attention, for whatever reason, make a screenie, show us what happened. That way even the people that lost their fate in the good of humanity might regain some of that lost faith ^^

I've both had some generous people and done generous things.

In Vabbi I was planning to buy a Azure Recurve bow since for some odd reason 200 chests in Vabbi&Desolation don't drop them. A guy whispered to me that he had one he would give me for free, and it was r9 with a 30HP mod. I asked him if he was sure and the dude just said he had no reason for a bow.

In ToPK we were having a rough time with the AI but I got 2 ecto drops from the Terrorwebs. We get to the 2nd floor where 7 of those Terrorwebs camp the area and they just start systematically destroying us. At this point we kill one and an ecto drops for the Minion Master necro...right as he dies. After we all fail and get back to the outpost I gave him my spare Ecto for free because that was in any situation royally f***ed up.
